I have happened upon this website whilst researching my family history. I've just discovered that my great grandfather is buried in St Nicholas Church, and indeed probably several more of my ancestors. I know that my grandmother's family lived in and around Leeds throughout the 19th century. I remember my parents taking me to visit a Great Uncle in Leeds when I was very small. Unfortunately it has been nearly fifty years since that visit. And now I'm researching my family's history, I will certainly be returning soon. Congratulations on a lovely website.

Hi, just a quick note to say my wife Diane and I are looking forward to moving to Leeds. We fell in love with it and we were determined to let nothing get in our way. It is such a beautiful place, and with history. Now Alan has committed himself now telling me there was a pint with my name on it at the George. Got it in writting Hoping to meet you all at some point. And I could not leave now without saying the website it top class! All the best to you all for 2008. Regards, J-C

What a wonderful site you have. I've just discovered my grandfather is buried in St Nicholas' church. He died in an accident in 1908. I now look forward to my next UK trip that I might visit the church and hopefully locate his grave.
Keep up the good work.

How pleased I was to find this site, bought back some very happy memories of my childhood being bought up in Leeds village (Forge Lane). I occasionally visit just to look around, was sad to see no shops, this must be a big loss to the comunity. The school were more than happy to give me a tour, the main part was still very much the same, I also visited The George Inn, the food and service was 1st class. Leeds remains dear to me now and always.

having moved to leeds "village" from detling village, four years ago, i feel there is a severe lack of "village life" here, everybody is so "clicky" and i can honestly say, that even after all this time i still cannot name my "neighbours" everybody keeps themselves to themselves, and often when i have said hello to someone, i am ignored, this is no village, or perhaps this is just a "farmer close" thing?
