A very warm welcome awaits you at the WI. We meet every second Thursday in the month at 7.30pm in Leeds Memorial Hall. We were pleased to welcome Gillie Taylor to our February meeting and she brought along many examples of the beaded jewellery that she has made. She then provided us with the beads etc and we all attempted to make a bracelet - not as easy as it sounds! The final attempts will be on show at the April meeting. The next meeting is on Thursday 11th March and we will share our favourite poems followed by Relax with Jan. Members are required to bring a large cushion or pillow to lean on but we are assured that we will remain seated throughout! There will also be a bring and buy stall. Several members are going to the Federation Annual Council meeting in Tunbridge Wells on Thursday 18th March when the main speaker will be Ann Widdecombe MP. There will be a quiz evening in Leeds Memorial Hall on Saturday 20th March starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 each and can be obtained from Pat Ingarfield (01622 861614) or Janet Buller (01795 471713) or any WI member. Maximum of six persons per table, please bring own refreshments. The visit to Romney Marsh Churches on 24th June is now fully booked and there is a waiting list for any spare seats. There is to be an evening visit to Hole Park Gardens, Rolvenden on Thursday 20th May. The cost is £15 per person to include a ploughmans supper. Names to be given to Sadie Curtis (01622 861645) as soon as possible. The bluebell walk will take place on Monday 26th April leaving Leeds Church car park at 2pm for a circular walk of approx. three miles. A cream tea will be available at The George at a cost of £4.50 at the end of the walk. Please advise Sadie by beginning of April if you wish to join us.
